You've come a long way baby...

I remember the days of the 80s and 90s when the release of a new Apple Computer or a new version of some piece of software was exciting to me.

Those days are long long gone.

With my ascension to system development, configuration, and administration at an enterprise-level in 2001, my viewpoint of computers and operating systems was forever changed.

Apple means zero to me these days as both a computing professional in the publishing industry and as a consumer who used to only allow Apple products exclusively in his home.

Microsoft, whose monopoly today exists because of allowing a lot of backwards compatibility in the early 80s with DOS and hardware, is now plagued by an inability to develop and ship product because of all of the inherent hooks and bugs allowing for the very same compatibility that let them rise to the top 20 years ago.

So Apple releases yet another overpriced iMac that excels in design but fails on specs.

Microsoft finally solidifies a shipping year for Longhorn, but at the expense of all of the true innovation that Windows needs right now, backporting the new tech to Windows XP as a stop-gap measure.

So basically everything remains the same.

Except for me.

I just don't really give a care about computing anymore.

Today is pretty much going to be like yesterday and tomorrow will be the same.

And everything turns. Turns along the Golden Path.

What a long strange trip it has been.
