I did something I'm not prone to do.
I gave money to a door-to-door grass roots person.
She was working for the HRC regarding gay marriage and constitutional amendments against it.
Now you should all know by now I'm no fan of marriage, straight or gay, and I think the whole concept of two men getting married really is laughable to me.
The root of my dislike of marriage lies in the hypocrisy as a whole in the concept of a religious and government sanctioned union.
I've no problem with civil unions and their generally business-like arrangement and have no problem supporting those for any 2 adults (regardless of genitalia) that want them.
But where's the admendment to the US Constitution banning divorce? If YHWH so loves marriage where is the total opposition to divorce in christianity? Where's that?
Ban divorce and you save the family and marriage, no? No wait, we need to ban something that isn't legal anyway because someone has to think of the children!
Fucking hypocrites. They just need to come out of the closet and just say they "hate fags and dykes" and leave it at that.
At least the white southerners post-Civil War openly wore their dislike and hatred of "darkies" and "negroes" like badges of honor. And for me to even acknowledge post-Civil War white southerners as having any admirable quality when it comes to race relations really shows you how much I loathe christians. And yeah. It is the undead-worshippers behind these courses of political action. You smell shit on some piece of legislation and it usually can be traced to some white god-fearing christian male.
Where was I going with this? Oh yeah. I gave her money because she was a pretty hot lesbian and if my money can go to pissing of a fundamentalist evangelical magic-believing christian than so be it. Hell, if it pisses off Hayden Christensen than it was worth the expense too.
Man. And talk about hypocrites? Here I am against giving money to door-to-door grass roots things and then I go ahead and give some to to her because I think she's hot and would have no interest in me anyway! I can't even say "but maybe she would" or anything because she's like dyke-arrific!

My largest problem with Civil Unions is that if that becomes the technical term for a marriage within the confines of the state and not religion, then it should be law that ANY couple married by a Justice of the Peace enters a Civil Union. Of course, there are those who would chafe at such a concept. If they do, let them pick a church.
No more of that "Separate but Equal" crap.
Dude, not even a chance at a short-term Kramer-esque conversion with her?...
We're going to their fancy-schmancy dinner gala here in SF this Saturday. I have mixed feelings about the HRC as an organization, but lately it seems like anybody who's willing to stand up against intolerance deserves some kind of support. And Alan Cumming is going to be there, so there's at least that to look forward to.
Alan C. plays up the gay way too much for me these days. I was fine with him when he was just a good actor, but the limpwristed faggy stereotype he's now become has lost my interest and respect.
Great actor, and I used to think he'd be fun to have a pint with.
