I really do like to fast.

I'm going to try and jumpstart my metabolism starting Sunday with a 7 day fast. It has been far too long since I fasted for 7 days. I always feel dramatically better after fasting and my mental faculties always feel sharper.

I should have thought of this last month.

Sunday makes sense since we'll be have Mr. and Mrs. B. over for dinner tomorrow night. Well... I should say Giga's having people over since he's making the thing. I'll sit back and eat a little.

Maybe within a week I'll feel better and when I start eating again my metabolism won't be so stagnant as it has been.

I've always wondered about fasting. My dad does it during ramadan, and he seems to appreciate the practice, if not for its health benefits, for its religious implications.

My problem is, I can't go without food for more than a few hours or else i really crash, it's something akin to hypoglycemia. I hear that you can get over this with a little mental muscle when you tackle fasting, but I haven't reached that state yet.

Well this is a bit more of strict fasting than the Muslim and Jewish variety.

I'm talking 7 days with only water. Maybe a little bit of apple juice the first or second day for sugar. No solid food for 168 hours.

It really isn't that hard to do and once you get past the 48 hour mark it is actually quite easy to go the rest of the way.

And I always feel so much better afterwards.

Now I do consume massive amounts of water per day during these fasts. Upwards of 3-4 gallones. This seems to really wash out all the accumulated salts and other crap in my system too.

I just feel bloated and nasty and I figured I'd give my metabolism a rest... well... in terms of digestion... and then see if this jump starts my fat burning in conjunction with the exercise.

I think at this point it's likely to only make your body hold onto the fat even more.

I'm with erik, though. i couldnt do it simply because my body would cease to function.
