I managed to get a couple of hours or so of work done on the Jay Kulpa Suiteā¢.
The 2nd coat of paint on the ceiling went up. I'll definitely have to do a 3rd coat, especially in the center where the navigating is hard due to all this shit moved to the center of the room.
Now I decided it would be good to try and put up a few sample swatches on the walls of the "Two To Tango" color that we selected.
But... what I originally thought was redder... and I can swear the swatch was more red... went on a helluva lot more orange. Two To Mango anyone?
I'm really hoping it dries darker. While the red worked for me with the white ceiling and bright white trim and grey carpet, I don't know about the orange. The grey carpet has to stay so we'll have to see how this pulls together.
This room, along with the master bedroom, doesn't have ceiling lights do to the age of the place. All the lights are these single bulb/switch combos on the walls. This room only has one and it really doesn't do much in the way of decent light.
Giga found a pretty cheap replacement light. Quite frankly, your Home Depots and Lowe's don't carry much in teh way of a selection for lights like these and there's no point in spending too much on a fixture for this place now. It'll do.
So tomorrow after breakfast with Alex and Kristy B. I'll be removing the old light fixture and trying to sand and smooth the old area around the old light. I'll try to get as much of a 1st coat on the walls too. Of course, I'll be swearing up a storm while I try to do the wall/ceiling seam since trying to do a clean line and not get paint on the ceiling in an house this old is practically im-fucking-possible.
Once the walls are done I'll remove the doors and start on the trim.
I still want to find new colored blinds for the room but that will definitely have to wait until the paint dries so we can get an idea of the final color.
