So this year all I did on the landscaping was to let the hostas all come in. Oh. And I cut all the daffodil leaves and tulip remains out.
I've been so focused on the real work that I hadn't bothered to do anything.
My realtor said to not bother since the hostas were enough but if the house doesn't sell I'd rather have some annuals in this year.
Before Pics:
I ran to Lowes this morning and picked up the materials for the new kitchen gutter (that I'll get to tomorrow) and I decided to buy some flats of flowers and spend the day cleaning up the weeds, moving some hostas around, and trying to add some color to the front as you walk up.
It is ok now. It pretty much looks like it does every year once I plant.
In fact I personally think the House of Love has the best curb appeal for most of the neighborhood.
I moved some hostas to even them about and planted pink and red impatiens under the magnolia (above).
On the other side of the sidewalk (above) I moved the large hosta closer to the street creating a space where I can walk and run the hose and such without smashing things. I also reseeded the one area that always has grass growing problems.
The front got blue impatiens, some marigolds, and fresh mulch.
The first set of steps got some hosta rearranging, and some blue imaptiens on the inside, some red on the outside, and some pink here and there to fill in. All new mulch too.
All in all it looks pretty damn good. Once the impatiens begin to fill in there will be color here and there and the house should definitely look good when it goes on the market.
The concrete on the steps is curing too. I removed the board I used as a basic form to hold the concrete in. It isn't perfect, but once I touch up the concrete with some hydraulic cement in a day or two it'll be fine. Painting them with the lighter grey enamel will make everything look consistent too.
