So last night we went to the Wexner Center's lecture series "Remembering Andy:
A Conversation with John Waters and Vincent Fremont".
Now even though I totally love John Waters, I can't say I've ever been a fan of Andy Warhol or his pop art and media work.
I especially never found much to impress from his hanger-ons like the "superstars". Disposable celebrity and glamour is just not my thing.
Groups of self-absorbed people, especially "artists" and creative "types" usually drive my FTL levels to the max. Actually, anything that smelled remotely of cult-like followings and personality worship just bore me.
Anyway, I wanted more of John Waters talking about everything and of course, this being an Andy Warhol lecture, it was more about the stuff I had zero interest in.
Sure there were a few amusing anecdotes but they tended to come from Waters' sometimes morbid thoughts on some of the Warhol hanger-ons than actually from any truly brilliant things regarding Warhol himself.
What was odd was the way the Wexner Center cut the thing off. There were several people waiting in line to ask questions at the mics and they just cut the thing off, almost in mid-question, and Waters and Fremont just walked off the stage. It was kind of awkward and if I had paid to get in I would have been extremely pissed.
Afterwards, Giga, Kelmeister, The Pickett, Sutekh, and Sutekh's J. ended up seeking out food at Bob Evans.
All in all, it was the 2nd Friday evening I've been out and social in a month.
And that is almost scary!
